Integrated Search

Integrated Search is a way for webmasters to use the OctaFind search engine to provide Internet search results for their visitors while still maintaining control of the navigation and 'look and feel' of their site.

The vast majority of search programs on the market for webmasters require that in order to offer their visitors the ability to search the web, webmasters give up control of the look and navigation of their site.

This is no longer the case.  OctaFind is now providing Integrated Search, a tool for webmasters to add Internet searching to their site while still retaining visitors.  There is no cost for this program.

Integrated Search works by means of a template file.  Webmasters upload a template file containing the HTML code for the page they would like results to be shown on.  Within 48 hours, this template file is available via a special search URL.  All a webmaster does is provide a search box that 'submits' to that special URL.  When a visitor searches at the webmaster site, the return page is in the same format and has the same feel as the rest of the site.  In fact, if not for the URL being at OctaFind, no one would be the wiser that you are partnered with us.  Full instructions are provided upon sign up.

In order to sign up for the Integrated Search program, you must provide a valid template HTML file.  The template HTML file is simply a regular HTML file which contains the text "###RESULTS###".  The text will be replace by the actual search engine results when the template is active.  You can structure the HTML file any way you like to keep it consistent with the rest of your site.  Remember to use Absolute (http://www.foo.com/bar.html), not Relative (../bar.html) URL's.
