General

What, exactly, does OctaFind do?  (top)
OctaFind connects advertisers and their web sites with interested visitors who want their products or services.  We do this by displaying advertiser listings for a particular search keyword after a visitor has searched for those words.  Advertisers may bid for placement in the results returned.  For instance, if you selected 'Mediterranean travel' as your search term, your listing would appear whenever someone searched on those words.  The higher you bid relative to others for a particular keyword combination, the higher your site will appear and the more qualified traffic you will generate.  Our system is commonly known as pay-for-performance.  (the performance being a user who has searched for your words and chosen to click on your listing)

What is the difference between what you do and 'pay-per-impression'?  (top)
Pay-per-impression is based on the idea that you pay whenever someone sees your listing, regardless of whether they actually choose to visit your site.  Obviously, this type of system makes you pay for a lot of people who never visit your site.  We don't believe this is fair or efficient and we don't deal in pay-per-impression.  OctaFind only charges your account when someone searches on keywords that you have chosen, reads a site description that you have written, and chooses to click on your link.  Even then, you are still in control because you set the price you are willing to pay per visitor!

E-mail us at and we will reset your password.  Please include your client ID and E-mail us from the address you used when you signed up for your account.

How can I cancel my account?  (top)
You can cancel your account at any time by writing to support@octafind.com.
 

Bids

How to you determine who gets listed first for a search term?  (top)
We employ a simple bidding method to determine listings.  Those advertisers who bid the highest for a certain search term will be listed highest.  Those with lower bids are listed below the first advertiser in descending order.  If there are not enough listings for a particular search term, we employ a general search engine which will supplement the listings.

How many different terms can I bid on?  (top)
There is no limit to the number of relevant search terms you can bid on.  However, please note that we do review all bids to ensure that they are relevant to your web site.

Which position should I bid for?  (top)
The answer to this question depends entirely upon your particular needs.   Listings in the top three traditionally pull about double the traffic of listings lower in the results.

How long after I sign up until my bids are visible?  (top)
We review and activate bids within one business day.

Can I change my bid amounts online?  (top)
Yes.  Once your site has been approved for a certain search term, you can change your bid for that term at any time by logging into the account control center and submitting the new bid amount.

Traffic
Will you provide me with statistics on the amount of traffic I receive?  (top)
Yes.  We provide online statistics in summary form and broken down by keyword.   You can clearly see where your traffic is coming from and adjust your bids accordingly.

Payment

How can I fund my account?  (top)
We accept payments by MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover. 

Is there a minimum amount I must spend per month to keep my listings active?  (top)
No.  OctaFind does not require that our advertisers spend a particular amount with us.  However, we do offer a monthly traffic program which allows advertisers to manage their monthly expenditures.

Account Security
What happens if someone keeps clicking on my listing?    (top)
We employ a number of methods to ensure that you are only charged once per unique visitor.  Unfortunately, if we were to publish our methods, we're sure that more people would search for ways to circumvent them.  Please rest assured that we have the best systems available in place for detecting multiple clicks on a listing.  As a side note, OctaFind does not pay users to use our search engine (as some competitors do), so there is not much financial incentive for a rogue user to repeatedly click on our listings.

Is my personal information secure at OctaFind?    (top)
Octafind is dedicated to the security of all of our user's personal information.  As an advertiser, we have in place a number of automatic and procedural systems to protect your private information.  Some areas of OctaFind use a secure certificate to encrypt your browser's transmissions.  This prevents anyone other than OctaFind from seeing the information you transmit it to us.  For additional information about your privacy at OctaFind, see our privacy policy.
